I am plumbing the return from my sump. I have an Eheim 1260 returning to the tank vercally about 5' through spa flex pipe, one bulkhead fitting, two unions and a SCWD that has been modded to 3/4" outlets. My question is, how much more flow (if any) would i get by using 1" pipe from the pump to the inlet of the scwd. All of that can be set up with 1", the scwd outlets need to stay 3/4" at this point.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

This may help.

But it wont do the SCWD loss.

From what I hear, the SCWD has a pretty high head loss. That being the case, I doubt you'll get significantly more flow going 1" vs. 3/4".

On a 1260, its not that much since the 1260 handles head pretty well. The 1" wont hurt though. bigger plumbing is always better.

Thanks that helps. I think I'll go ahead and do the 1". According to the calculator it is good for 20 gph or so. I have heard that too about the 1260. I hope it is true.
