I've had an ongoing problem with a black-gray slime-like algae in a 480g swim-only tank I maintain. Ph is fine in this tank (though low Ph in a different tank did prove to be the source of the same type of algae).
Water changes don't help; I've got excellent flow (15gph+) and have the returns directed at various angles so that the bottom receives good flow as well.
Fish loss has been a big problem in the tank, too.
I've tried erythromycin to knock it out and it does nothing.
I'm at my wit's end with this tank..... Has anyone encountered this stuff before, and have any solutions for me? Thanks...... B

Can you list all your water params? Everything....

I'm not getting swim-only thing... And, 15gph in a 480g???

Maybe you should have people take a shower before swimming in the tank? :D

And I agree, without parameters, it's a little hard to say what might be wrong. a picture of the slime might be useful as well (out of the tank, floating in a shallow container of water).
