View Full Version : What to do with my Cowrie?

I just figured out that the culprit eating my zoas, star polyps, etc. is my cowrie (after a year - I'm a bit slow on the uptake - I thought I couldn't keep zoas because of something hiding in the rock that was eating them). I've caught him eating my Cynaria - at first I thought he just wasn't acclimating well, and the Cowrie was eating dead stuff. Put him into quarrantine, and now I've found the Cowrie eating at my new open brain.

So, now he's locked in a breeding box - what to do with him? The nearest LFS is a 2 1/2 hour drive - not worth it for this pest - any suggestions?

Any friends you can give it to?

Where in NH are you?

Don't know anyone around here who keeps salt water. I'm just north of North Conway.

Got a sump to put him in?

Not a bad idea - I just worry about him wandering into the protein skimmer pump - but I guess it's better than the tiny jail I put him in this morning!

North Conway, cool. I grew up in Tuftonboro. Beautiful country I miss a lot!

Anyway, we may be looking at a case of euthanasia here. What kind of moral qualms you packing?
