I have a Knop-c calcium reactor that i've installed a DIY second chamber onto. I have a PH controller connected to a cup that is catching the effluent in the sump area. Since the second chamber is supposed to use up any extra CO2, to keep the PH up in the tank , i'm not sure if placing the PH probe into the effluent is going to control the CO2 injection correctly. I know what PH i want to keep my effluent at INSIDE the reactor so...I'd like to see what ideas you guys(& girls) have for a DIY PH probe inlet. I'm not sure exactly what fittings it will take to seal the probe & keep it from leaking. Also, should it be in the first chamber (which is the Knop chamber) or can it be installed in the second chamber??? Someone please enlighten me! Thanks!!! Craig

I'd go into the first chamber. Drill the tube stop out of a 1/2" JG fitting then you have a probe fitting.

So the rubber O-ring inside the fitting is what seals the probe from leaking?

Yes just take the loc out then the oring, use a forsner bit to drill out the stop then put the oring and lock back on. This just lets the probe push all the way through.

I sure do appreciate the info, Don. I'll whoop that up tommorrow! That should make the PH readings read correctly. Thanks again!

That's what you get for posting without reading.

Thanks for the info. I just posted the same question.

You can buy a pH probe fitting from geosreef.com

ej797,
It sure did! It still doesn't leak! As a matter of fact i DIYed a whole new calcium reactor and used this method for a PH probe on it as well. Works great!
