Any ideas in what this is? What species?
Just got it today and did a dip and plopped it into my tank a few mins ago.

I think it is a acropora abrotanoides sp.

Abrotanoides and it looks like going to be a red one. Try not to move it much since they are very sensitive.

looks like it will darken a good bit, seems almost bleached a little bit. very nice piece though.

It came in as A. abrotanoides.

I stand corrected, I checked my invoice it is A. hoeksemai from Flores Island Indonesia.

Ok, but the coralites are different from the hoek. They are more tubular at the top. And this has different color polyps and tip. WHereas the hoek is uniform same color. I can scan in the jens book and youll see what i mean with the coralites.

I see what your saying. I actually have it marked as A. abrotanoides. Alot of the time the corals come in with incorrect names or no name and that makes it difficult sometimes to give an I.D. In most cases I will just say that it is an Acropora sp. and not give a species name.
