Drain question?

i need help on my drain from the display tank to the sump. i have a 1 inch bulk head about 2 inches from the top. how can as an overflow without it gurggling or backing up. any help and pics would help.

You can use some PVC with a grate attached to the end of it tilted at an angle. This is what my LFS does. All there tanks have a bulkhead drilled at the top and all they have is a grate on it.
