I just got my 9005 moving away from a CSS 65. FIrst of all what is the breakin period for this skimmer, and secondly I noticed even running wide open the skimmers' bubbles do not come half way up the cup as it is supposed to. Although when I dosed my tank tonight I noticed for 5-10 minutes the skimmer went crazy. Is the bubble level due to the fact that it needs to be broken in? Or is this because of something I actually need to check.

I had them change that in the last manual revision, try this, just open the screw 3-4 full turns and give it a few days. It is almost impossible to set up the skimmer the way the manual suggests unless you have a fair amount of expereince with them

No, it is normal for water to exit this hole.

Didnt know that....I actually "capped" it. Will doing this cause any adverse effects?

It can cause problems if the water level is run at the upper limits, otherwise it should be fine.
