I just had a fungia bud off and it is in the substrate. Should I leave it there or try and attch it to a small piece of rubble? and if so how?

if i am correct i wouldn't glue it to anything. there is live tissue under the fungia like on the top. all gluing will do is kill it. personally i would leave it in the sand uness your fish move the sand alot then try a small plastic cup or lid from chinese soup.

I wasnt going to glue it but wedge small pieces of rock under it and see if it would attach.

I would put the new fungia on flat rock or hard substrate, rubble, etc. They will not do well in sand.

Also, be sure to save the rock that it broke off of. The remaining stalk will generate another fungia, and usually continue to do so making a little fungia factory. I have several of these at Atlantis. Some pics in this article:

All fungia are free living corals, they are only attached when young, grow to a certain size, then drop off, and are found in rubble zones on the reef.
You'll often find areas littered with them. They are also capable of moving to more desirable areas by swelling parts of their tissue and "walking" along the substrate.
