hey everyone

ok I just got a deal on a used 48" HAMMILTON dual 175w SE setup, is old but it works, the only thing is that the bulbs are 1-175w 20,000 and the other is 175w 10,000, they are also 2 Coralife Actinic T12, i think they are NO, because they are very dimm, and the ballast are magnetic (large black box)

should this setup be good for a frag tank 4x2x1? also the fixture is the old black outside amd white inside, so no reflector is there, just the 2 mogul sockets, and the T12, and a 120mm fan.

or should I clean it and sell it, and purchase a dual 250w DE HQI, simmillar to the new coralife, but i think is a cheap one, I do have one on my main tank and it is very bright, but they come with 10, 000 kelvin bulbs, but i replaced them with new 20,000 kelvin

I think if you got a good deal on it, just put the bul combo in there that you would like. And go from there. Going with the aquatraders most people seem to end up changing bulbs right away to get a decen bulb in there fixture.

yeah, I know about the aquatraders... I have one on my main tank, the question is: is the Dual 175w SE from Hamilton better than the dual 250w HQI? what do you think will have better effect on the corals, I think the 250w even if cheap bulbs, should have better PAR right?

What kind of ballast are you running on the 2x175? If you are worried about par just get 10k bulbs for the 175.. What do you plan on keeping in it?

I dunno if you remember me but I got a bunch of your tanks from you awhile back.. I was in a black avalanche.. Are there any more left? I know you had a couple of really scratched ones.. I'm in need of another sump.. Remember the one with all the BH's drilled all over the place on it? It was thicker but had tons of scratches...

well ,I decided to get the Aquatraders dual 250w HQI, specially since they come with 15k bulbs now, and there is a huge thread about the new design, and since I already own one, and i know how they look...

so the Dual 175w by Hamilton is for Sale/Trade, I will post it onm the For Sale area

I think you made a wise chioce, the bulb slection for 175's is getting slim. I think you will be happy just for the bulb possibities alone.
