Hello I have a 45g tank with a built in sump i think. Here is my paint drawing of my tank. :D

My question is in the sectioned off back portion of the tank (the sump I assume). There is a corcked hole leading towards the front of the tank, do I just measure the hole and find a pump that fits?

Is it possible to place an in sump skimmer there?

Thanks alot guys.

By the picture I would say you are right the hole does appear to be for the return.

yup look like the return pump hole. you can put whatever you want back there as long as it fits.

Thanks guys for giving the information.

Some further information/questions

The way that the tank is formed makes it look like it will not accomindate a HOT skimmer. So do you guys know of a taller skimmer with a small collection cup... or what might you suggest I attach to the 2' return.

Another note. I was planning on having a DSB, but the tanks return has a number of little holes that are too low, so I think it will just blow the sand away. Meaning I will have a 2 inch sand bed, leaving me needing a really powerful pump/skimmer.

I was planning on doing a DSB/fuge in the 10x4 space, but cannot due to the adjacent wall to the 10x V is not solid at the bottom but is grated. So now I was thinking free floating macroalgae.

So any suggestions would be appreciated.

The return is actually 3/4 inch.
