I run my RO/DI unit with two DI's & two carbon blocks. Supposedly the water in my area does not have chloramines. But what if they decided to change? Would I be protected? Do carbon blocks remove chloramines? Do chloramines show on a TDS meter? [sorry for dbl post..I want a few opinions];)

Carbon block filters will filter chloramines but the highest quality carbon blocks are best. We do sell a special carbon block filter set for chloramines. We recommend using two carbon filters to provide long carbon contact time as one carbon filter may not provide enough protection. Chloramines are very hard on carbon so low capacity drink water carbon blocks filters are very poor. Chloramines do not have a TDS reading and can pass through a membrane without doing damage where chlorine will damage the same membrane. If you have chloramines they will be listed in your municipal water report online and the most common report is still Water Quality 2005.

Here is the link to your 2006 annual water report and you only have chlorine as a disinfectant. If at sometime they change to chloramines you will be provides with notice long before they do a changeover due to health and pet issues.
