After many hours of reading posts about these skimmers, I decided I'd build one. It's got a 6" dia. 24" tall reaction chamber with an Octopus 2000 needle wheel modded with 3 layers of mesh and a home made venturi. The Octo is pulling 20 scfm thru a 3/8" poly hose.
What do you think?

looking good. :)
Did you keyhole the flage on your cup? I outsourced the one on mine.

Yes the flanges are keyholed. I used a template i got from an online acrylic course I took.
Where did you get yours made? I'm building a 10" dia. recirc. skimmer and need some flanges made for it.

I got the keyhole side from Andy at MRC. I based the cup I made off of the one from my MR-2. Their CNC does a much better job than my drillpress. :)
For the 10" ID flange I needed, I used this PCL script:

It just took a little putzing around in it to expand it to a 14" OD and put 12 holes in it.

Wow, thanks. I'll check into that. I have a request in to MRC already to make some flanges for me, but haven't heard from them yet.

yeah I had to pester him a bit to get the one.
At first I asked some more custom stuff, but then just ended up asking for a stock 8.5" keyhole for 4" OD tube and I got in a few days.
