Looks great! 8.4 is perfect and where I keep mine.

I would normally say to raise the salinity, but since you have a fowlr, it's perfectly healthy where it is now.

LOL... You waited 18 minutes for a reply. You may not have the patience to keep a reef tank.

8.4 is a tad on the high side. 7.8 to 8.5 is considered acceptable, but 8.1 to 8.3 is ideal.

There's a great article here on what ideal parameters are: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php

Your pH is within the safe area.

Here's a link which shows what all of the parameters should be:

8.4 is not high at all imo. It is where I like to keep my pH for the most part. Like the above said, 7.8-8.5 is acceptable. What is unacceptable is large pH shifts. ;)

Ph naturally fluctuates throughout the day ... generally starting out low in the morning and reaching its high point when you turn the tank lights off. There really is no reason to fixate on PH .. all you need to do is to insure your tank has a reasonable level of alkalinity and that you have adequate air exchange at the surface of the tank .. mother nature handles the rest.
