It's a common algae used for nutrient export in aquariums.

It looks like a green "Brillo Pad." It does not have holdfasts, is not invasive, and does not need substrate or rock to cling to. Since it can act as a mechnical filter in circulating water, I rinse the chaetomorpha whenever I perform a water change.
I would only order it from a local fish store. Every time that I have placed a web-order for macroalgae, it arrived with a pest, such as aiptasia anemones or caulerpa.
