Have you ever started a new tank and literally just sat and watched the small dribble of water flowing from your RO/DI unit - trying to mentally force more water out so that you can start your return pump?

I have filled my 480g with about 510g of water (sumps makes the total water volume about 528g). That last 18g of water takes about 5 hours to make... It is now 21:25 in South Africa... Just 5 more hours then I can start the return pump, start heating the tank and get things going.

Anyone had this frustration?

I had a similar experience when I filled my tank. I wound up about 5 gallons shy of a full tank. After about 10 minutes watching the filter drip out water, I went to the store and bought the remaining water.

My patience levels have been improving ever since, lol.

LMAO!!!! That's hysterical.
I bought $500 worth of Red Sea Salt to keep around, and from time to time when I'm really busy and don't have time to make RODI and mix salt water, I go to the ocean and grab 40 gallons for my water change.

Yeah well RO/DI water from the LFS is not as good as my own (they do not use a DI stage), and costs R1.60 per liter - so if I had to fill the whole tank using that I had to pay about USD 400...

Still waiting.... Drip, drip, drip....

Increase the pressure by inserting something into the "bad water" tube.

Thats why I got salt water delivered and pumped from the truck straight into my tank when I sat it all up in 2005. It took abut 10 minutes and all was done :-)

You really think 18g of tap will cause a problem in >500g total volume? Don't wait, just fill'er up! Heck, my entire initial fill was tap... :D

note straight from the source! one of my LFS makes up SW and fills up a huge tank on a truck and deliveres it to people. you only pay AU$ 250 for around 1000L. Very very handy
