My tank crashed after an OD of EM antibiotic last Monday, about 6 days ago. I lost a couple of fish, all my snails, and half my corals.

My Zoas and Polyps are all opening back up now. My two SPS lost their color and I'm not sure they'll come back. Lost my Xenia and Kenya completely.

My Frogspawn and my Candy Cane both retracted and have been closed the last few days. However, now both of them have a covering over their heads. What is this exactly and should I suck it out or is it beneficial and just part of their healing process?

Thanks.

IME those heads are dead and gone. The slime left will disappear in a couple of days revealing bone white skeletons.

Sorry for your loss.

There is no such thing as OD'ing EM... Any EM will will harm or wipe out your beneficial nitrifying bacteria. I dunno what you were using EM for but obviously the cure was worse than what you had going on. You have to qt before using EM since it kills all gram negative bacteria.

Anyways, just leave those corals alone for now... it's either a protective slime coating or part of their flesh rotting off. What you need to do, is some heavy water changes. Change at least 30% of your water every day if you want the rest of your tank to live...

Right now I'm just interrested in the covering on the pics shown.

Thanks.

yes it looks like it is dying. I had the same problem in my tank when I added untreated water directly to my tank ( that damn filter :-) ! anyway just leave them in there and amazingly some will come back, my did. Good luck!!!
