I have a lime green wrasse that does a great job at keeping things clean. I will hunt for a pic.

6 lines are bullies and will limit the other kinds of wrasses you can have. If I could get mine out I would. I would get some fairy or flasher wrasses if I could. The Laboute is a beautiful fish, I'm very jealous :)

My flame and scotts fairy wrasse

On my list are the Loboutes, lineatus, pink margin and yellow coris (canary). I will be getting two more and have not decided.

I had a pink already that escaped.. was a great fish.

Of the fish I have seen in person, the lineatus is the prettiest. THe second is my scotts :) The laboutes is awesome looking and definately different than any fish, really looks like it was painted I am waiting to see what my flame is like full grown, it has steadily been coloring up. The pink was very pretty too, but faded some while I had it.

wrasseguy2-wow! great collection. 3rd and 4th pics are laboutes, correct? is 5th pic a lineatus? What is the 6th and 7th pic?

Thanks to all of you who have shared in this thread. This is what makes this site so great. I really appreciate all the replys.

Thanks seagirl, it is a Velvet Multicolor Wrasse ( Cirrhilabrus luteovittatus ). I've had it for about 4 months now. Really love it, has a great personality, likes to "show off" anytime someone is near the tank, the blue on the bottom gets really intense. And whenever I am doing stuff in the tank it will follow my hand around, expecting me to either feed it or to move something on the sandbed so it can get to the worms. :)

The lubbocks was quite a find. It was only $20, and not too attractive when I first bought it. Colored up nicely though. Here it is when not displaying colors:

what are you all feeding to keep them so nice looking?

I just got a Ruby Headed Fairy Wrasse, I want to add a Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse, is it true that I should have put them in together if I wanted to add another, they are both from the same family Cirrhilabrus.

I wouldn't risk it. I tried adding a flasher with my six line in my 210 and he killed it. The six line is a bully and really limits other wrasses you can keep.

My thoughts on wrasses:
No bully's & have to provide a service in the tank.

So prugs, what would some of your top picks be for a smaller tank like mine? (40BR) And what services would those wrasses provide to make them worth having?

You already have a sixline, & that is a bully IMO. The sixline does provide services for eating flatworms & pest nudibranchs.

MrSpiffy
06/11/2007, 08:54 AM
Well, let's say that I were to get rid of the six-line, though... what would you recommend based on looks, personality, and service to the ecosystem?

I'd love to have one, but the only place I've ever seen them listed is the marine center and I think it's like $400. I do plan to pay for a lineatus, but I can't spend that much on one fish.
