I bought 90 lbs of liverock from a fellow member and had 2 people look at it and all of the rock has different algaes. Mostly covered with Green Bubble algae and hair algae. How do i get rid of these. I tried a wire brush with no luck.

I used a fingernail brush on some of my rock when I had hair algae. I took a bowl of fresh saltwater and scrubbed the rock out of the water than dipped it in the SW to wash it off.
Good luck

If you don't NEED to use the rock immediately, put it in the dark with a skimmer. The algaes will die. The skimmer will keep the water reasonably clean. The bacteria will all live.

A pressure washer will take it down to bare rock and coralline.

Don't scrape or brush the rock in the tank that will just make it spread! <BR>
mflamb's right, put it in a Rubbermaid container with a powerhead and a skimmer if you have one with the lid on for a few days. You can add large snails to help with the process. The hair algae might be tough, you may need to pull off any large clumps. Fox face's and tangs are good for eating it away later as well as some crabs. Emerald crabs are good for bubble algae if you get it back later in the tank but they can also be a nuisance. You'll be ok after a few days and some TLC with that rock. There is a product called algae gone (I think that's the name) that is suppose to help with green hair algae if you want to speed up the process in the container.

Give it to some rabbitfish and tangs... I'm sure they would eat it up

I got rid of all of the hair algae in my live rock by using a couple of the white urchins.. left the coralline, ate the algae..

Guys thanks for all the Help and replies. I took the rock out of my tank and replaced the water and just got done doing that. I transferred it to a BIG rubbermaid and have 2 maxijets in the container in the dark. I will do this for a while to get the algaes off.
