Height of PC from water lvl

Is retroing PC's about 8 inches off the water too high, as thats about the height of my canopy from the surface of the water...

I think so, but it depends on how tall your tank is, too I'd think.
I have mine about 2-3 inches off the surface on a 24" tall tank.

ok i guess there will have to be someway to move them down some, thanks for the reply. Remeasured and will be about 5-6" from the surface with the canopy closed...my halides are that far away as well, wonder if that's a problem?

depending on what wattage your halides are, you might have a problem with heat, or splashing on the bulbs/fixture.

eh, only 150's have one on each side, havent had a problem so far, just have cheap T-5 retros, and changing back to PC's again...
