I've heard that FilmTec RO membranes are compatible with Kent marine brand RO systems. Is this true? Anyone done this? I could save a bundle buying a FilmTec membrane ($35 50gpd at buckeyefieldsupply vs. a $70+ Kent) if this is so.

Yes it will fit. Kents are quality units and use the standard sized membranes.

Great, saves me a lot of money.

I just placed a 100 gpd membrane in a 50 gpd Kent unit i purchased a few years ago. Man, does that thing put out the good water now......

Kent does not make their own membranes. They are most likely Dow Filmtec to begin with, that or Applied Membranes or GE Water, those are the three largest membrane winders in the US when it comes to home sized membranes.
I wouldn't go with the 100 GPD if its a Filmtec, they are not even RO membranes but nano filters rated at 90% not RO rated at 98%. Huge difference in water quality.

I don't remember who the manufacturer of my 100 gpd was. I bought it at That Fish Place, so I hope it's O.K. My TDS meter reads 89 ppm on the inlet side, and 0 ppm on the outlet side.

Thanks for your information.

are you talking abought the membrains you can find at lowes?

To determine the membranes efficiency you need the tap water TDS and RO only TDS without DI. Any good DI should get it to 0 at least for awhile but if the membrane is not very efficient it can greatly shorten the DI life. For every 2% you increase the membranes efficiency you double the life of the DI resin so rejection rate of efficiency is very important.
Most membranes found at the Lowes near me are only 25 GPD or less and some are for the Whirlpool RO units which have a non standard membrane with a different nipple and o-ring configuration.
