I tested my DIY rock from the rock making party which was only about 4 weeks ago and lo and behold the ph was down to 8.4. A few days ago it was still off the charts. Of course my little arch is much smaller than some of the larger pieces but then again those are in a stream and mine was in a bucket which I did change a few times a week. So maybe you might check one out John and see how they are perculating. Anyone else check their rock lately?

After soaking a while, they usually have a white film on them, be sure to give them a good scrub, sometimes thats all it takes to get the ph down.

I will take a few pieces out on Monday and Put them in a bucket of water for a day or two and then check the PH to see how they are "cooking"

Thank John. Can't wait. This went much faster than I anticipated. Looking forward to seeing those babies in the tank.

Piazzon was nice enough to bring over a Sea Cloine skimmer for the live rock tank for the zoo. Plus i added a Fluval with some Chemipure and Phospure to help eradicate algae. I'll also sick a couple of tuxedo urchins on the rock. I've been dripping Kalk. and adding iodide. Getting some color but also some hair and diatoms. It will just have to cycle through.

I put a few pieces of the rock we make in a bucket filled with water the other day. Tested it this morning results were a little darker than the 8.6 mark so I am thinking 8.8 with a salifert test kit. I am going to drain and refill the water every day and see what happens . If I can get the Ph down I will do the same to the rest of the "RIVER ROCK"

In my experience, if the rock has a white film on it, that may be causing the ph to be high... Did you give them a good scrub??

Just kidding of course, I couldn't resist John :D
