I hear about feeding it a lot but how exactly is it done? I have it in that powder form and when I put it into the tank it seems like most of it just floats right to the surface.

I use the dry stuff, I take one of the lumps and hold it underwater in front of a power head and let the power head dissolve it into the water column. This seems to keep most of it from just floating across the water's surface.

I mix it in a cup with some tank water and pour it into the return area of my sump, and the return pump kicks it into the tank through my SCWD. The fish love it, especially since I now have two who hang out in the water columns. Then after 15 minutes or so I turn the skimmer back on.
