Came home today looked in the tank and noticed everything closed up as well as a cleaner shrimp dead, put my hand in the tank and temperature must be in the 90's, took a look at the controller its locked with the display permanently showing 77.7 degrees (I wish).
Have tried resetting the powerbar as well as unplugging the controller from the powerbar and plugging back in does nothing.
I now have the controller unplugged and from the powerbar and the display is still lit up I working off the internal battery, so my question is this does anyone know how to reset the controller without actually opening it and voiding the warranty.
I have never had problems with the controller prior but had recently got the latest update which Im sure is the culprit so my next question is if I am successful in getting it working again is their a way I can roll back the software to the previous release.
Thanks

I was able to reprogram the unit what I found was after I unplugged the controller the battery only lasted about 5 minutes and then I was able to plug it back into the powerbar but it would keep locking up so I reset the controller tried reinstalling my backup but after installing the backup my powerbars for the 2 tanks and sensors were now backwards to what they were initially saved as causing an even bigger mess.
I have now reprogrammed everything manually and it seems to be working properly on 5.62 with the exception of when I try to connect to it via the pc it will fail to connect 25% of the time.
I noticed this problem occuring right after my initial upgrade to 5.62 prior to the controller locking up.
I would really like to know how to reinstall 5.61 only to see if this fixes the problem.
One other strange thing I noticed is when Im connecting to the controller my fan was being controlled via my temp sensor this plug will shut off until the connection to the pc is complete and then reactivate after Im connected to the controller.
One more tid bit the time shown on the controller when it was locked up was 10:30am but I still received my email update of tank stats at 12pm and all of the plugs on timers were working properly only the plugs being controlled via the level and temp sensors did not work my tank temp ended up at 91 so far lost 3 acros and the cleaner shrimp Im going to leave my MH lights off for the day tommorow just in case this occurs again.

Contact Aquarium Obsessed by phone and ask for "free, rapid substitution" and they send you a new controller for exchange. I had the same lock-up problem, but didn't lose anything. Went back to appliance timers for a day until I recieved my new unit which hasn't locked up.
I'm sorry for your loss.

dbond sorry to hear about the loses. As James stated you need to contact Aquarium obsessed and let them know right away.
This is a known problem that had effected a batch of controllers.
At this point do not trust the controller, it will lock up again maybe every few hours or days but it will happen again.
The only good news is that the powerbars do not depend on the controller for operation so if you had timers programmed to turn on lights pumps etc. they will still work even if you disconnect the controller. All programmes that depend on sensors, Temp, pH etc. will no longer operate if the controller locks up and will remain in there last know state before the lockup.
BTW Aquatronica only pays for standard shipping on warranty replacements so I suggest you let AO know that you are willing to pay for it to be shipped next day air. If not it will take almost a week to get a replacement.

Thanks Im going to contact A.O. and see what they recommend.
James can you let me know about the time you purchased your controller and how long afterwards before you experienced problems, the reason Im asking is I have been using the controller for about a 1 1/2 years and never had this problem occur prior thats why I was thinking it was somehow related to the 5.62 update.
Thanks for the tip about shipping Robby but if I do have to get a replacement I can be at AQ's office in less than the time it would take them to put in the mail :D .

That's convienent :) BTW while your there ask Andrew why he has not returned my PM :)
BTW I can assure you it's not the software update. People with even old versions prior to Ethernet have had this lockup. It seems like one of the Chips inside a batch older versions just starts locking up.

Thanks Will have the new controller online and things are getting back to normal the new unit has resolved the problem and is working perfectly.
Thanks as well to Robby for the info, this was the first time I ever had a problem with the controller since purchase and you tend to forget how much I really rely on the unit after a while.
Robby can you answer me this do you know if the usb ports on the controller are detected in a specific order? asking because when I initially plugged the new controller in it would always detect my 2nd powerbar as my 1st, so I reprogrammed the unit from scratch with powerbar 2 unplugged then plugged it in and programmed and tested everything was good then did a backup.
I thought I would try to restore the backup to test how it worked and it once again detected my 2nd powerbar as the 1st when the backup was reinstalled.
Third time was a charm I reinitialized again and had my 2nd powerbar plugged in one of the lower usb ports and it now detects it properly as the 2nd powerbar and the backup/restore works, hopefully this makes sense.
Once again Thanks to all

Glad to hear everything is back to normal.
The detection from my observation seems to have some dependency on when the screen scrolls to the device or some sort of interval check if scrolling is turned off. I have noticed that when I plug a new device eg. a probe, it seems to get detected as the various devices get displayed eg S01, S02, s03 then the new device gets set as S04 and that only seems to happen after it scrolls to S03.
Hope you understand that confusing observation. BTW that is not fact only my limited observations :)
