I am getting a 125g non drilled tankin the next week. I will be drilling the tank myself. My sump will be a 150g rubbermaid stock tank, located about 12 feet below in the basement. I have decided on a sequence barracuda, at around 2750gph with a 12 foot head. I am going to install a center overflow with 1 1/2" drains. Question is this though, will 4 drains be enough? I am also going to run a closed loop with a sequence dart, installed under the stand, so it will be drilled for this too... I just want to make sure 4 1-1/2" drains will be able to keep up with the cuda... (dont want any accidents).. If anyone has pics of this type setup, please post them for me... (still in the planning phases). I know I can throttle the cuda back with a ball valve, but I really hate to put any back pressure on the pump seals. so, to simplify the question... will 4 1-1/2" bulkheads handle 2750gph?? Thanks

(1)1.5" pipe will handle 1000 GPH

the magic #! Thanks, thats exactly what I was after... so by drilling 4, I will be sitting at 4000gph,... The bulkheads will be installed in the back of the tank, so they will each have 1 90, then drop straight down... so I should be ok.

1-2" drain can handle somewhere between 2500-3000gph. Why not simplify the problem and plan on using 1-2" drain for most of the flow and have a second available just in case? It's going to be insane trying to synchronize 4 dursos.

I know that sounds like a lot of volume, but I think 1.5" can actually handle more than 1000gph. More like 1500gph. 1.25" should be able to handle 1000gph.

But either way, you'd still simplify it by dropping down to 2-2".

Oh, and sequence actually recommends valving back their pumps in order to extend seal life. I know you still don't want to waste the flow, but worst case scenario you aren't going to hurt the pump if you have to valve it back.

ok, Thanks guys! Unlike everything else I have done in this hobby, I want to think this one through!
