I would like to install the controller about 20 ft away from the tank (I would probably need about 50 ft of cable) is there such cable extension available can it be custom ordered or made?

Thank you for any help.

I don't know of anybody doing that but in theory it should work.
You would need to look at the existing cable and check on www.digikey.com or some other place that sells connectors and see if you can find a match for both connectors then make one.

Thanks, do you know what kind of cable is used between the controller and the power bar?

It looks like somewhere between 24 - 28 AWG stranded wire in an 8 wire shielded bundle. I don't think all 8 are used but just look at the orginal cable.

If anybody can find the right wire call these people
http://www.alphawire.com/
If there's a number on the side of the cable let them know and they should be able to find the exact wire.

Please keep me adviced as to how this works out.

No doubt...

I don't even think the folks at AT would charge that much...

Did you find any other [cheaper] alternatives for the cable? I'm trying to make a decision on a controller and down to Aquatronica and Neptun AC3. But I plan on it controlling 3 tanks and each would need ~20 - 25 foot cords. Neptune uses regular RJ11 or 45 I forget which (phone jack or ethernet jack) both which i can make for free since I have access to both wire, ends, and crimper. If its going to be over $100 each (or say $50 each for that matter) than I think I'll skip over the Aquatronica... But I cant amagine that it would really cost that much just to get the ends and whatever wire is needed.

No one did answer what kind of plug they use?
