Do you have to cover your tank if you run a self-cleaning oven cycle?

Is your tank next to the oven?

I don't see why. If burn't cooking hurt a tank my tanks would have been dead meat long ago.

Darn.....looks like I'm going to have to break down and spend that $20 for a heater!

Joking aside Bassace, I'm not sure if this holds true in the Aquarium world or not....but I know from keeping birds that the fumes emitted from a burning teflon pan could be fatal to a bird. I don't know for sure about the self-cleaning oven, though.

Not sure about the aquarium, but if you have any other pets of any type- they need to be out of the house while using the self cleaning part of the oven.

(So I have read) I never used the self cleaning part of the oven for this reason.

I personally don't trust self cleaning ovens, to many horror stories. I just clean it myself, well, my wife does anyway.
