This is hopefully nothing but I just wanted to check with you guys.

A starfish died and it's thrown my params out of wack. My new RBTA has shrunk to about a 1/4 of its normal size. Checked params yesterday they were some of the best I'd had, but today:

Nirite = 0.2 mg/l (ppm)
Nitrate = 5-10 mg/l (ppm)
Amm still 0 thankfully!

I've just done a 20% wc (thank god I picked up some new water today!) and I have removed all I could of the starfishes remains. The RBTA does seem to be perking up slightly and the mouth is still tight.

Will he be ok? Is there anything else I could do to help?
Sorry if I'm over-reacting... this is just my first tank emergancy and I love my new RBTA!

Thanks for any advice.

It sounds like you have it under control. I'd do another water change tomorrow.

My RBTA looks much happier today! :D

Amm = 0
Nirites = 0.05
Nitrates = 10-20ish (I find the colour chart on ths one quite hard to read)

Nirates not great but as expected. Done another wc and running some carbon. The sg has unfortuntaly fallen to 1.023 as my silly LFS do a lower mix for some reason, I prefer to keep it at 1.025. I think it's time for an RO unit!

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for replying rkelman. I did sleep a lot better! :D
