Equipment
20 gallon
250w 14k halide
2x24w HOT5 fixture
2 Hydor Koralia #1
Rena power filter
100watt heater
Remora skimmer w/prefilter

Livestock
Hammer coral
3 blue chomis
1 rainfords goby
1 pajama cardinal
1 firefish
1 potters angel

Some people say my tank is overstocked however I haven't had problems with nitrate, phosphate, or excess algae. All pictures are taking with the halide off as it really screws with my white balance on the camera!

Very nice, what are you future plans in terms of corals?

20lbs, what makes you think I need more?

Nice, Cody! Looking great. So that picture is only with the 2x24W T5/HOs on? I'm looking to upgrade to that route, but my lights would be about 4" above the water in my canopy. What bulbs are you using? I'm considering the Aquablue and Blue Plus from ATI. If I add a third T5/HO, it will probably be a GE 6500K bulb.

How's the store been lately? Those polyps I bought are doing great! I look forward to seeing more. When do you move to Flagstaff?

Is that a 20L? should be about 1.5 to 2lbs of LR per gallon?

It's actually a Nova fixture suspended above the aquarium so the bulbs are whatever current uses. They have new fixtures, HO bulbs and ballasts but still no individual reflectors.

THe stores fine, just recieved a shipment of fish yesterday and probably some coral friday or saturday. Flagstaff is at the end of august

Mostly sps corals. I recently added a very shallow layer of crushed coral over the fine sand so that I could boost the flow. Vaccuming the cc once a week with my water changes should take care of detritus buildup.

It is indeed a 20L. I haven't had any algae issues and my nitrates & phosphates are both undetectable so until any of that changes I won't be adding more rock.

It looks like the 24" Current USA Nova Extreme (http://www.marinedepot.com/ps/ps_ViewItem~idProduct~CU01124.html) uses 10K and 460nm T5HO bulbs. That is, if the 2x24" is what you have. I just noticed in this picture Here (http://www.marinedepot.com/IMD/600/CU01124/CU01124_97.jpg) from Marine Depot that the Nova Extreme doesn't use the SLRs like the famous IceCap or Tek reflectors. With those, supposedly they can boost the light to almost 300% the output just from efficient reflection from the smaller diameter T5 bulb.

I just finished with my glass horizontal overflow in my 20G long. I added water and am now mixing up some fresh saltwater in the system. The overflow is running great! The max it can handle is about 300 gph (1" bulkhead). My gate valve for the skimmer arrives tomorrow and then I'll be set to start putting things back in the tank. My substrate will be first so I can stir it up and let the skimmer take all the DOCs out of the water over a few days. Should be fun.

Oh, how do you like the Koralias? What version are they? I'm trying out a Seio 620 for flow in my tank. I've been using Maxijets for a while now and I want to upgrade to something that puts out more flow and runs cooler--which I know the Seios, Koralias, and Tunzes all do. People are saying lots of good thing about the new Hydor PHs, I'm just wondering if I should invest in them or put my money on the line and go for the NanoStream.

They create an odd flow. They don't really move water forward so much as to the sides of the pump. Great random flow but they won't reach far into the tank. The really nice thing is that u can point them AT coral without blowing the tissue off.

so what is your exact setup for lighting?

Nice tank man! I think you have just enough LR, gives space for the sps you talk about getting to grow and for fish to swim. Open is the way to go... If you do get worried about not enough biofiltration thats what refugiums and sumps with LR rubble are for.
