took this on the way to bed last night... quite rare to get thunderstorms where I live (North West UK). The lovely view from my bedroom window is across to the Stanlow Oil Refinery!;)

Here's one I took about two years ago (ignore the signature on it, I didn't put my name on my photos then so it's dated for this year...) with my S2 hand held, it was a complete luck shot, but I still like it!

How do you get the timing of your shutter finger to match the lightning strike? Are you just really lucky?

no - technique is different. Requires a long shutter, possibly a bulb exposure if camera allows, preferable a remote release and tripod. I had used a timed shutter and proped my camera on a windowsill though.
Very cool pics :)
Timing is everything...

Incredible shots Clippo! Lightning shots are so unique...alot like a snowflake ya know? No two are ever the same and they are both so common to people, we always take their originality for granted.
Well done!

Well, all three are awesome shots. Really, cool. I just don't think I'd ever be able to time something like that...
