Roger,
The website showing info on the Master DOC 9440
http://tunze.com/fileadmin/downloads_en/masterskimmeren.PDF
says the immersion depth is 10.6" max
the directions with the unit say up to 14.5".
which is correct?

I am not sure but the manual is more current, the PDF is from Interzoo 2006, the technical data is based on much older prototypes. The manual is maybe only 6 months old.

Hi Roger,
I would like to get a clarification on this one, does this mean that maximum water level of the chamber where the unit is to be located should be only 10.6 inches or 14.5 inches? If it were higher, will it work if I place the unit on a platform?
Also, it does state in the manual that the unit should be placed in an area with quiet water. Since my skimmer chamber is also the chamber where the overflow from the main tank comes through, will this be a problem?
I am excited about this unit! Thanks in advance!

As Honda said, these heights refer to the height of the standpipe, with one pump the lower flow through necessitates a tall pipe 14.5", with 2 pumps a shorter pipe is used. The pipe cannot be submerged. The water has to exit freely.
