View Full Version : Auto Top Off?

I run a SpectraPure RO/DI for make up and top off water...
I'm looking into auto top off systems for the aquarium.
What options does SpectraPure offer in this area?
Thanks

I'll try to answer any questions you have about the products after you have a look at them and can better define what you want to do.

Scott,
Thanks for the links... Not sure why this is so confusing to me...
1st question -
Do you recommend using your controllers to replace water directly in the sump? That is RO/DI feeds SUMP Level. (I assume not)
or
Do you recommend using your controllers to replace water in a holding tank which then feeds SUMP? (Allowing for failure to overflow the holding tank rather then lowering salinity in the aquarium.)
What's the difference between
"Solenoid Valve Controllers"( LLC-SVC-2FLT-4-10)
and
"Single Tank Liquid Replenisher (LLC-S-115)
I'm using CSP-25 4stage RO/DI. Based on your website I'm assuming using a "Electronic Tank Level Controller" is out of the question. (Either I'm controlling DI water or I'm controlling saltwater.)
Here are my thoughts...
RO/DI to HOLDING TANK (Monitored by Level Controller) gravity fed FLOAT VALVE in sump.
The RO/DI runs off standard house hold pressure of 60-65 PSI and currently is turned on and off manually.
The HOLDING TANK is a 20gal BRUTE garbage can. (3/4 full, so about 15 gal)
Therefore, using one of your Level Controllers, I could presumably keep the water pressure "ON" the RO/DI 24/7. When enough gravity fed fresh water tops off sump, the controller would allow water to flow through the RO/DI to TOP OFF the HOLDING TANK.
Is there a way to have ON/OFF and saftey floats more then 1"?
My current aquarium only loses about 1gal / day. I use the 20 gal brute as my holding tank so I always have extra RO/DI water on hand for scheduled and emergency water changes. However, I really don't need the RO/DI to replenish a gallon a day but would rather it cycle on for 5-7 gallon increments or close to 5-7 hours processing time. (Every 5 or 6 days)
Thanks again.

>> We have reliable systems that work both ways.
What's the difference between

"Single Tank Liquid Replenisher (LLC-S-115)
>> The LLC-S controls a valve in front of the RO system. It uses our very reliable Sensor Tube/Pressure Switch arrangement to sense water level. There is a +/- 1/2" difference between the turn-on and turn-off levels.
The LLC-SVC uses two separate electric float switches placed where ever you want the turn-on and turn-off levels to be. It controls a valve that is installed in front of the RO system.
Both of these schemes follow the logic of your first example. They usually fill the sump directly, but they could also fill a trash can that can then be pumped into the sump with our LLC-PH or, soon, our UPLC that uses our LiterMeter pump.

>> You are certainly on the right track. I would get the LLC-SVC.
