Need help with lighting a 29 Gal

Hi i just bought a icecap 430. Do you guys recommend a 50/50 bulb and an actinic bulb or 2 50/50 bulbs??? Will these ballast run T5's or only VHO's? I also have 250MH over the 29Gal. I just wanted the morning night effect. I already have moonlights installed.

For dusk/dawn effects, I would just use actinics.

What do 50/50 bulbs look like??? Are they blue or more white looking???

50/50 bulbs look terrible. They have an ugly pink hue to them. just use actinics.

im runin a 50/50 vho and itinic vho and a 10,000k 65 watt pc and its doing great so wit a MH im sure it would be great

I'd still say pure actinic for dawn/dusk.

Can i run T5 bulbs with the icecap 430 or only Vho's?

You can run T5 bulbs. The guys at Icecap will tell you only 2 bulbs (24"), but I've been able to run 3 (24") bulbs fine for the past 1.5 years. Just keep the bulbs cool with fans. They were never designed for T5s, but they work and overdrive them.

you could go with a T5 and Mh combo, i bought a 150 DE retro from hellolights, and 2x24 T5 retro, i think they sell a nice combo there now though
