do you guys always have bags of carbon in the sump or only sometimes and if you do when do you know its time to replace it

i keep a bag of chemi pure in the sump all the time. I just change it out every month or two.

I run mine 24/7 and replace it every water change. 1 cup per 100 gallons. There is really no way of testing if it needs to be replaced.

I run Black Diamond carbon 24/7 and change it out monthly. ;)

I run Matrix carbon, and change it out about every month.
