I've been looking at some of the online sites (**********, ReeferMadness) and they all use some version of this setup for SPS. Is this the way to go to get the best growth and still keep decent color? What is the best bulb/ballast for this? Is it better to run 250w 6500k for growth then switch to a tank with some actinics to color them up before selling?

The very best lighting set up that you can do is 20K radiums and 6500 Iwasaki bulbs... gives GREAT color! I have 2 20K's and 1 6500K and LOVE the way that it looks!

FYI: the 20K's are for color and the 6500's being for growth

I think that if you want to display your colors for helping to sell stuff than 20K's are the way to go. If you want to propagate and grow quickly I would go with 10K or maybe 14K. However, for display/selling purposes 20K's will look best.

Well im just running these on a frag tank 40g, so my thinking was that I would get enough par since the 400w is overkill but still get color since it's 20k. Heat isn't really an issue as it's in the basement.
