I understand how difficult it is but I plan on giving it my best shot with the help of sites like goniopora.org and experts on reefcentral.
I've had it for a little over a day and the LFS got it on Monday and had it under halides and it was fully expanded at the LFS. Brought it home and while the polyps did come out of it's skelton, they sort of only one quarter expanded. It seems that particulates in the water were hitting each of the polyps and making the polypd randomly contract but not into the skelton. This was going on all day. I actually thought it was a feeding response and was glad to see it but it never fully expanded. I have t5s and it is at the bottom of the tank so I was wondering if it was too bright. but it was directly under halides at the LFS and fully expanded. Its the small polyp variety in case that helps anyone.
Well the story here is that with lights out, the goniopora expanded. Do you think it is a lighting issue too strong? I would think the polyps would contract like most other LPS with lights out.
Water parameters are fine and all other LPS are doing great.
I'd like some input.
Thanks
Joe
