Hi,

I recently lost two clowns in a new system to (I think!!!) "brook". I was unable to get formalin for a timely treatment process. I was irresponsibly ill-prepared.

In order to help avoid situations like this in the future, I would like recommendations for a "medicine cabinet". What products would comprise a list that would cover the usual problems?

Thanks, Fred

When I am in "stocking mode" I keep a bottle of formalin, copper (cupramine), antibiotics (nitrofurazone, kanamycin, neomycin, maracyn 2), metronidazole & piperazine (for internal parasites).

You should have a copper test kit that works with whatever copper you keep in your medicine chest (not all coppers are the same and some kits don't work with different coppers). A refractometer comes in handy if your going to use hyposalinity (nice to have at anyrate).

For giving bath type applications its nice to have a small clear specimen container as well as an airstone setup and small inexpensive heater.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Kevin. Your list provides a good starting point.
