Hello...
I am choosing between these two Eheims and I'm considering whether to beef it up and go with the 1262 which will give me 900gph.

The reason for this is that it will give me the option to tee it off in case I need a chiller. My sump currently has around 650gph running through so my question is: Is pushing 250gph through a chiller too much or too little? Is there a difference when the chiller is on/off?

If I end up not needing the chiller, can I put a gate valve on top of the pump and limit the flow coming out? Is this bad for the pump?
Thanks!!!

You can always gut the flow back. It doesn't hurt anything.

flow depends on the chiller. See what the flow requirements are for your chiller.

I don't have a chiller yet, I'm looking into that as we speak. I should know by tonight what size chiller I need. Any tips or brand preferences??
Thanks!

Right...
I thought she was responding to the chiller comment.

I saw some other tanks this weekend that were tee'd off after the pump to get water to the chiller. I think I'm going with the 1262.
Thanks
