Invincible has a sweet open top rimless set up. I used to keep my top open but I lost my Bimac hog while on vacation. It is now covered with eggcrate. I dont want to lose my Mystery.

Here is my open topped Oceanic Tech Series which is euro braced.

I like the open top for heat control. I think it looks cool too. The room has lots of spill over light so no lamps need to be turned on while the tank lights are running.

Here are a couple, my new 180 and old 40g. I personally don't like the look of a canopy.

Here's mine (no tang comments, I know, I know...;) ). I've lost 2 fish, a lawnmover blenny and a diamond goby to jumping, both times when the sump has run empty and the Mag 9.5 turn the tank into a protien skimmer. Click my house for more pics...

Here's my 55, very minimal: no sump, no skimmer, just one 250W 20K halide and a corner cordoned off for surface skimming and to hide the pump:

Here is mine I think the open tops look clean. I do have a screen on the top to stop fish from trying to jump

This is my old tank taken back in 03. I've went with the open top look on all of my tanks since 02. Besides aesthetics, it helps a ton with heat as well. The only drawback is you have to keep your fish selection limited (no fairy wrasses, eels or other fish that have a high tendency to jump/escape). Another benefit is that it makes it easy to take top-down photos!

and you know who you are...

I don't mean to thread hi-jack here, but what bulbs and ballast combos are you running over those tanks? I want to do an open top 90 lit by a pair of 175 or 250 watt MH, but I've read so many conflicting reports on what is plain white, white with a little blue, 50/50. mostly blue, and completely blue that I'm about to scrap the idea and go t-5's.

So share some info here and help me out. All these good looking tanks are killing me!

thanks,
-avp
