I have two PH controllers on my tank.
one is a Elos aquarium controller, the other is a Neptune PH controller(both are brand new).
I calibrated both as per the manufacturers instructions. I placed both in the sump to read tank PH until I get the CA/RX up.
Over the coarse of a month Both of them drifted far apart as much as one saying 8.30 the other reading 7.90, so four tenths of a difference.
Which one was correct? Well I used a 7.0 control to find out.
Both monitors started out high, then over the coarse of 30 minutes drifted down by three tenths? They both started high and had a downward trend but never stayed at a constant ph as I would have hopped.
Solution tempter remand at room temp
both probs where soaked in 4.0 for a couple days as well.
I don't think Co2 was an issue as it was a 30 minute test and the range was so drastic. 7.10 to 6.80 in one case using 7.0 fluid.
Do I have 2 separately bad units or are aquarium grade ph monitors that poor?
I would like to see a stable number for at least 15 minutes using a calibration fluid.
Is this normal?
