Hello,

I would like to keep my new tank at 76. I have my heaters set for 74 and my chiller for 76. Any input...is this right or am I allowing for too big of a temp variation?

74 seems a bit cold
as far as the temp swing...
my heater it set to 79 and on some hot days it gets all the way up to 82. I haven't noticed any problems.

just make sure the temp swing doesn't happen fast

2 degrees is a very small temperature swing. Neither the small swing or the low temperature are particularly good for reef animals. Reefs average around 82 with something like a 4-6 degree daily swing.

My tank hovers around 80* all day & night

Summer time, my tank swings from 78 to 84 ish. Never had a problem.

My tank stays at 81* with no chiller. I do have a heater for back up. It is set at 77*.
