Hope this will help.

I used 1/4 plexi & a foam piece from a wire shelf liner. (Lowes $9.99 ? )

I used the liner on my 50 gal. acrylic between the stand & the tank. It's not the regular shelf liner, but a denser one for a wire shelf ( don't ask me why someone would use it on a wire shelf, all I know that the liner works great)

My Urchin went from somewhat quiet with the wet paper towel trick to WOW ! is that NICE with the plexi & foam.

The plexi is slightly longer on the vertical side & the foam is also over sized in length.
I don't know if the foam is the best choice, time will tell

Hope you have good results
Pls. post them

So your foam and plexiglass covers the spray-head area? And that makes these things quieter???
