I was just out on my porch and I saw an angle of my tank that I don't normally see. It kind of reminded me why I love this hobby so much. I thought I would just make a thread about my tank and it's progress :D

I love the display refugium... that is a great idea. Gives me an idea for my next project. Thanks!

Great progress! I love the display refugium also. Can you take some pics of how it's plumbed in to your main tank? I'd like to set up a fuge but I don't have enough room in my stand so it'll have to be a display one. Did you make the fuge tank or buy it somewhere?

Slow and steady! I just started adding corals about 3 weeks ago

Thanks! It was A LOT of fun to say the least ;)

This is the return from a mag 5 coming from my sump:

This is the drain,

This is the continuation of the drain from the fuge. It empties into the opposite end of the "sump":

The flex line is the return to the fuge:

I JUST turned my sump into a second refugium... the pods were dying before they got to the main tank from the display fuge so I made it so they can also colonize in the sump. I have some chaeto and caulerpa and it's packed with dead coral heads.

I did make the refugium tank - it took a couple tries. You could easily buy a small acrylic tank and drill it wherever you want. The stand was fairly easy to make and cost probably less than $25. I still want to install a door to put my topoff jug in it.

I can give you more specifics if you're interested! I've always been a big fan of display refugiums, it shows a whole nother side of our microcosms that people are interested in. Plus it helps make the tank not look so boxy.

Thanks for the interest!

I'd love whatever particulars you could give me! I'm still a little confused by how the whole refugium plumbed in to the sump thing works. Course I was confused on how an overflow and sump system worked until I saw it in action!

You can pm or email me so you don't have to clog up your thread helping me. rachelcb80@hotmail.com

Thanks so much!

I just finished the rockwork a few days ago so I haven't really been inclined to add anything as I would probably just have to move it anyway. And plus I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to corals...
