I just noticed that one of my angels has a bulging eye. I don't recall seeing him like this before, but I didn't carefully observe them until now.

Is there anything that can be done? (QT w/ antibiotics, or is it a wait and see thing.)

Most bulging eye's are the result of a bacterial infection .. often associated with an eye injury (netting, fighting with other fish etc). In many cases the fish's own immune system will help cure the problem .. changing water and feeding healthy food may help.

If you don't see improvement or the conditions worsen then you should Qt the fish and treat with an antibiotic. Maracyn 2 is a readily available antibiotic that will help .. don't use it in the ST.

I bet it's from netting and transfer. It's gone through a lot in the last few days.

If it's still doing bad tomorrow, I'll hunt down some antibiotics.

Just like any injury it takes time to heal. If the fish is otherwise healthy theres a decent chance it will cure itself .. you should consider waiting, observing, and perhaps making a water change, running some carbon and maybe soaking some food in selcon. Remember even with antibiotics you won't see an immediate change ... usually takes a week plus to cure.

Hope this helps.
