View Full Version : Will my bubble anemone hurt my clam?

Lets see who is the quickest to post this time? Always great response time!! Ok my anemone is getting big now and I saw today it was touching my clam will it hurt it in any way? Other wise they look great together :) thanks for your answers :rolleye1:

It will sting the mantle and cause possible scarring. It is best to try to move the clam.

It won't hurt it, but you should be able to tell if the clam gets annoyed by it, then just move the clam.

Yea, I would move him away from there and see if you can get him to attach some place else!

The only thing I've seen sting one of my clams is when I placed it close to the frogspawn, it just retracts that part of the mantle, if the clam is not retracting it should be fine. JME

I've seen carpet anemones on top of clams without any ill effects. Unless the anemone is blocking the light or is causing the clam to retract, I would not worry.
