I am only keeping softies and LPS..... my tank is 30" x 18" x 20".
Would this be a good choice for me as the only light source????
I love this unit simply because its a total package for MH and it has that arm which is so key to me because my major problem with MH is I currently can't mount them from the ceiling.

I was considering that light until I realized that I could probably get away with drilling (carefully) two 5/8" holes in the sheet rock of my apartment building ceiling. I bought the Aqua Medic Ocean Light 150w MH pendant and it hangs from two cables. I used expansion bolts from Lowe's to attach the two small cylindrical mounts to the ceiling. It is a very unobtrusive mount.
Let me know if you are interested in a picture.

Ah, another 29g with metal halides. If it helps any, I have a 250w over my 29g and I can keep anything under the sun. You should be able to do the same with that fixture.

T5s are probably very nice, but I shied away because the good fixtures (and not all include bulbs) would have cost me a lot more money than my single MH pendant.

Metal Halides all the way for me! Look at a tank with and without LIVE. It looks much more natural to me, With a point source, waves shadowing (shimmer affect)....

I think a mh would be just fine. I would go with a company other than coralife but people above seem to like them just fine.
