View Full Version : Kalk in top off water?

I recently purchased a Tunze Osmolator. It will be sitting in a 10g rubbermaid container with R/O water. I would like to mix Kalk into that water, but I am confused by how much to add. I have Pickling Lime, but instructions for dosing on another site said 1 tsp per gallon. Is that gallon of top-off water, or tank volume? Is there a more exact measurement tool to use, such as an online calculator? thanks!

1# tbs per gal. of top off water , best to add just befor light`s come on.

1 tablespoon or 1 teaspoon per gallon?

I have seen amounts of 1-2 teaspoons per gal of TOPOFF water.

I don't believe more than 2 teaspoons will dissolve in a gallon of water.

The maximum that will dissolve without adding vinegar is 2 tsp per gallon. 1 tsp per gallon is a fine starting point, but each tank is different, so some tuning is required. This article goes into details:
