How about a twin spot goby? I have one in my 20 and the sand is clean. I've heard they will eventually starve to death, but mine is fat. He sifts the sand all day and eats mysis and flake. He stays small too.

How about a yellow watchman goby and a pistol shrimp combo. Very neat symbiotic relationship.

I have a YWG and a tiger pistol shrimp pair and I've never seen the YWG sift sand. Maybe he's lazy because the shrimp moves all of the sand (a little too much at times).

I have a gold headed watchman goby. He sifts almost too much! LOL (I had to move a plate coral up on a pedestal) :)

I have a bullet goby and he loves algae and sifting sand. He's very active and a lot of fun to watch.

Are you looking for fish or perhaps inverts?

Olive snails are nice and so are strawbery conch

If you can find one that eats prepared food and don't have aggressive fish in your tank a Rainford's goby is an excellent choice.

I always here people recommend diamond gobies.

Way too big for a 20 gallon and they and many other Valenciennea sp. gobies will slowly starve to death when not in large tanks with sandbeds that are full of life.
