Five weeks ago I got this frag of zoanthids. Three weeks ago I epoxied them to the rock. Two weeks ago I started to feed a phytoplankton drop a day to them. Today I noticed that in between the heads has turned white. It almost looks soft like cotton.

What is this and how do I get rid of it? I am still kind of new to the hobby so i am scared of hurting the zoas. Plus, how I do I take them out to clean them if they are stuck to the rock? I am assuming that I might have to remove them for a freshwater dip and maybe a scrubbing. I just really do not want to hurt them. This is my first attempt at zoas and I was thinking I was doing well up until this point.

Also, whatever this is, does it stick around in the main tank after I have taken care fo the problem? Will it ultimately affect any other zoas I would add?

Thanks a bunch for the help!

Also, they do open up really beautifully every morning and stay open all day. They seem really heathy.

It could be a sponge. Try to scrub it off with a toothbrush.

If I keep them in the tank and scrub the white stuff off, will it them spread throughout the tank? That is what I am worried about.

The white stuff under the frag is the epoxy by the way!!
