I'm looking to get my first clam soon, and I've been told that its best to QT them for a while before placing them in the tank. Is this totally necessary? I do have a spare 10g tank and a small powerhead/heater, but I don't have any spare lights besides the T5's on the tank. If I do need to QT it first, what should the qt tank have for equipment, and how long does it need to be in there? Thanks for any help,
Matt

so should I just go and buy some cheap light to use while theyre in qt, or does it need something really high powered?

power compacts will be fine, though metal halides will be ideal
