My $0.02...

- Feeding less food

-Doing frequent water changes, preferably with RO/DI water

- Using a phosphate remover like phosban or rowa phos

- Using a chemical like red slime or chemipure (a last resort)

If it's a new tank...do what Wett Hands suggests...except for the Chemiclean, which is a good product if directions are strictly followed, but don't use that yet. It's made by the makers of ChemiPure but it's specifically for red slime...Also, increase the flow in the tank.

Remember in a new tank, some red slime (cyanobacteria) is expected but it should dissipate on its own with the measure that are mentioned.
